HORRIBLE company to deal with. I bought a 2019 Stache 5, and it was problem after problem from almost the day I bought it for almost 2 years (I sold it this weekend). They will box you in by not allowing refunds or exchanges. Their "warranty" parts fail and take FOREVER to come in. You can only deal with them through your LBS. Employees are either rude, or aloof and dismissive. They can get by with this because they're a huge corporation and you have no choice but to let them. I would NEVER, EVER, EVEREVEREVER buy another Trek or Bontrager product again. My LBS has actually lost me as a customer due to Trek's handling (not handling) of me.

I bought a 2021 Trek Marlin 7 for my son from Evans in Norwich a couple of months ago.
1. The plastic drive train shield broke the first time he rode it and damaged the gears which needed replacing under warranty
2. Shortly after he rode the bike on a local Forestry Commission mountain bike trail. Ten minutes into the ride (which was not a technically challenging one), the front wheel rim just snapped along its seam.
The damage is clearly an interrent defect yet Evan's have been unsuccessful in securing the cost of a replacement from Trek under warranty.
I took the broken wheel to another Trek dealer who advised me that a defective seam was clearly the reason for the wheel breaking as its obvious from how the break appears.
Furthermore I returned the bike for a free service included in the sale package. A bracket requires replacing - but not covered by the warranty.
This is totally unacceptable. How can mountain bikes required to be robust break so easily?
I am considering rejecting the bike as not fit for purpose and requesting a full refund.

So far, so good

So far, so good. I’m 2 weeks into ownership of my Trek Roscoe 8 and it has already successfully carried me up & down the Purbeck Way, twice around Swinley Forest’s Blue & Red trails and alongside the River Thames. A noticeable improvement on my 10 yo old Giant bike. Bring it on!

Trek eBike Customer Service…

45 minute call to Trek Customer Service regarding a $5000 bicycle. 40 minute wait time. Absolutely no help.
Trek has no replacement batteries or sources for the batteries on their eBikes. Was told to go to Bosch or the internest.
Trek offers made in China replacements for the OEM Supernova M99 Pro Headlights. These are more expensive than the German made ones which offer more features.
Tech support could not tell me whether the 1st gear ring on the drive cassette normally had one tooth lower than the rest. (I thought it may have been engineered to ensure downshifting while aggressively pedaling uphill).
I was stupid to assume they support their products.

Very rude customer service

Very rude customer service, misguided information for bikes when shopping and told that fat tires are just as good as shocks! So untrue, worst bikes ever! Bikes had constant issues and at $700-$800 price range, these bikes were purchased for our avid young riders who already knew how to do tricks on previous less expensive bikes, but these trek bikes we brought in to fix issues a couple times within the first week of having them and again at a couple weeks and then left bike at trek shop for 4 days...our bikes issues were not even repaired! No compensation, no apology, no anything. Child was badly injured due to faulty bike. Bikes returned and will never deal with them again! And the pandemic is not to blame for their horrible service! Overall terrible experience with Trek!!! Purchased a better brand in the end, cost a few hundred dollars more, but at least my kids will be happier to be able to do the things they enjoy without random falls and they will be safer!

Honestly the best customer service I've had in a long time. When my Trek bike was stolen, Sue at customer service was really friendly and went above and beyond to try and help me retrieve my bike. Thank you :)

Trek bikes are terrible

Trek bikes are terrible. Purchased a fuel ex 9.7 2020 model and it's been a terrible experience with water damage and blown corroded bearings, A made had a trek ebike and had dramas with that too. Refunds all round thankfully. Do not buy Trek bikes as they are woeful.

I recently bought a 2021 Trek Fuel EX 7…

I recently bought a 2021 Trek Fuel EX 7 about 45 days ago. Within a week I had to bring it back to the shop because the bottom bracket was creaking so much. I dropped it back to the shop, which took about a week to complete. 2 weeks later- the same problem resurfaced again. The local shop then told me it wasn't the bottom bracket the first time, it was actually the headset (even though the noise was coming from the back of the bike). They proposed to solve the problem with Trek by ordering a new Knock Block instead of addressing the bottom bracket issue.
Now, I'm out of the 30 day return window with a bike that is constantly creaking with a loose bottom bracket.
I called into Trek's 800 number, and they told me there is nothing they can do except bring it to another shop. I brought it to another shop and they confirmed it's a loose bottom bracket. At this point- I have lost faith in the longevity of this bike. I want to return the bike, but I can't because it's past the 30 days. Apparently, I should have just returned it immediately instead of giving the local dealer a chance to fix the issue.
What is the point of buying American products through a local bike shop if the service is this poor and inflexible? Why wouldn't I buy a direct to consumer brand if these simple issues cannot be addressed?

Love my Trek Bike

Bought $400 Trek bicycle 4 years ago and still love. Smooth ride and sturdy frame. Wish I had more time to ride it.

Bike disappeared

Had a horribe experience with trek. I ordered a Trek 520 in May 2020 from a local retailer. The delivery date was first 10/8 and then later it was pushed to 7/9. Then when that day finally came they sent the bike to the wrong store and when the store returned it the bike disappeared. Trek said it was nowhere to be found and since there was no more Trek 520 in store I never got my long aftersought bike. No apology or compensation, just a sorry (but not sorry).
Terrible experience. Beware!

Costly Disappointment

Despite what Trek try's to make everyone believe, Warranty is their last priority. In 2019 I purchased my most recent Madone - "Project One". Yes, I was an idiot to pay $12k and boy do i regret it now!! While washing the bike in June of 2020 I noticed a major crack in the "highly promoted, highest grade OCLV 700 series Carbon Frame. Yes, They agreed it was a manufacturing defect and agreed to replace it at no cost. The catch is it will take them approximately 75 days to complete the work. in 58 years I have never waited 75 days for any warranty work to be completed. In Colorado that is nearly the entire summer. How is it that the world famous TREK does not have a single Madone Frame available that can be painted and replaced in a reasonable amount of time? obviously it is not their Priority. They are also very good at making it difficult to get in touch with. Try their customer service line, minimum one hour wait time to talk with someone. No way to email them or chat online. They put all the responsibility on their dealers and then tie their hands. Pathetic example of what used to be a great company. My advice, don't take the chance, there are too many way better companies to buy from.
